How long you’ve read with Everybody Wins! Iowa: 10 years

Q: Favorite book (and why!)

A: A Time to Kill, John Grisham. I love this book because it is such a page turner that allows the reader to really understand all characters points of view.  I have read it multiple times and I feel like it’s the first time every time based on how well the story is told and the characters are developed.

Q: Why do you volunteer with Everybody Wins! Iowa?

A: Reading has always had a very special place in my heart. I love having the opportunity to bring that kind of joy and excitement to the kids in the program!

Q: With so many options for nonprofit or volunteer work in Central Iowa, what would you say to someone considering joining Everybody Wins! Iowa and the Power Read program? 

A: It is such an easy commitment and you will see an immediate impact. It’s rare to have both of those options. One hour a week and within a few weeks you can see the impact you are having by building a relationship with your student.
