Jeremy Bielski has been a mentor at Hillside Elementary in West Des Moines for seven years. He has read with several students over the years. He read with Hayden for four years before he moved on to middle school and is currently reading with Haylin in our Power Read Online program this year. Jeremy has also served as the Recruitment Chair for the Board of Directors.
He works at the ITA group. Jeremy has a degree in Finance and Accounting from Kansas State University as well as an MBA from the University of Iowa.
Jeremy says that he joined Everybody Wins! Iowa, “as part of the 2013/2014 class of the West Des Moines Leadership Academy we worked with the Hillside Principal at the time to bring EWI to Hillside.”
Outside of his involvement with EWI he has “an active-reading family (wife Shannon and son Emmett).” Jeremy also likes to golf, travel and read in his free-time.
His favorite story to read with his mentee’s has been The Giving Tree by Shel Silverstein.
Jeremy had this advice for current and future mentors, “EWI is a wonderful opportunity to share your love of reading and take an active role in helping students build a variety of skills. Your positivity, patience and friendship are instrumental and are very much appreciated by the students, parents, Hillside teachers and the EWI staff and Board.”
