Everybody Wins! Iowa Celebrates Power Read Week October 23-27

EWI celebrated Power Read Week for the first time since 2019 during the week of October 23-27, 2023. This special week serves as an opportunity to recognize our dedicated mentors and staff while making a lasting difference in the lives of children in Central Iowa.

This year, we had a tremendous opportunity to make an impact through a matching gift program. Thanks to the generosity of several donors, we had the opportunity to match donations up to $2,500, during Power Read Week, with the goal of raising $5,000 in just five days.

Thank you to our volunteers and donors for being an essential part of our community and for your ongoing support. Together we made Power Read Week an extraordinary success, and we look forward building on this success throughout the school year!

If you haven’t already, we ask you to please consider making a donation to support our Power Read program. Your contribution is invaluable in our mission to empower children through the love of reading.

We are also still seeking reading mentors to volunteer in our program. Specifically, we have a pressing need for mentors at Emerson, Lovejoy, Moulton, and River Woods. Interested in volunteering with us? Apply today!
