Power Read Mentors

Power Read is Everybody Wins! Iowa’s signature program. Through Power Read, volunteer reading mentors visit a student for one hour each week. The students and volunteer reading mentors spend their time talking, reading aloud one-to-one, and instilling positive attitudes about reading. Volunteers also serve as role models and enhance students’ self-esteem.

Everybody Wins! Iowa has programs in over 30 sites in Ankeny, Des Moines, Indianola, Norwalk, and Perry at a variety of days and times throughout the week during the school year.

Most of our Power Read programs are over the lunch hour, but we also have programs before and after school to fit with all types of schedules. Our greatest need for volunteers are for reading mentors!
