Everybody Wins! Iowa is an independent affiliate of Everybody Wins! which split in 2013 to become Read to a Child, with six locations nationwide. Everybody Wins! programming has ten affiliates across the country. Both organizations trace their start to Arthur Tannenbaum from New York, in 1991, who started the “Power Lunch” program. Everybody Wins! Iowa was brought to Iowa in 2002.
During its first year, Everybody Wins! Iowa served 15 children in three schools. Currently, Everybody Wins! Iowa has approximately 500 students matched one-to-one with reading mentors in 20 central Iowa schools and community organizations.
Although there is no longer a national affiliation, Everybody Wins! Iowa carries on the Tannenbaums’ original mission: instilling a lifelong love of reading in young children by providing one on one reading and mentoring experiences.
