October 2015 Newsletter

We’re Back!

Our 2015-2016 school year programs are well under way again. In our first month of programming, we served 376 students with 351 volunteer reading mentors who spent 532 hours reading 340 books and almost 1,000 pages so far! We would like to thank our mentors for their great attitudes and commitment to making a difference in their community!

We’re Celebrating Power Reading This Month!

Everybody Wins! Iowa is holding its 5th annual Power Reading Month. From October 13 – November 3, Everybody Wins! Iowa will be celebrating at each of the 46 programs in Central Iowa.

Students in need from Ankeny, Des Moines, Indianola, Norwalk, Pella, and West Des Moines will take home new books as a way of highlighting the importance of its “Power Reading” programs and promoting the power of literacy and mentoring.

Throughout the month, Everybody Wins! Iowa will be thanking school sponsors and volunteers for their outstanding work and support.
